The NCGE Committee for Women in Geographic Education (CWGE) will award a $500 scholarship to an undergraduate or
graduate woman enrolled
in a program leading to a career in geographic education. Registration fees will be waived, and an additional $300
for travel expenses will
be awarded if the recipient wishes to attend the National Conference on Geography Education in Dearborn, Michigan from October 9-12, 2008. The award will be
presented at the meeting.
Qualifications: To qualify, the student must have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a geography GPA of 3.5, based on a 4.0 scale.
The applicant must also submit a 300-word (approximately) essay responding
to this prompt: "Celebrating Women in Geography"
To apply, complete and return the application information along with your transcript,
academic vita, and your essay to the NCGE Central Office no later than April
18, 2008. Arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to the
Central Office at least one of which is a geography educator and a member of
NCGE.
